80W or 2A reed relay on 0.25in pitch

Pickering series-144 reed relays

Called Series 144, they feature sputtered ruthenium contacts so they can switch at high power and low-level signals. There is also an internal mu-metal screen to eliminate magnetic interaction between closely stacked devices.

Maximum carry current is 3A in all cases, while some witll stand-off 2kV and others 3kV.

Max switching is 80W 1A, or 60W 2A for ~107 life, or 10W 10mA for ~109 life, or 10W 10mA 1kV for ~108 life.

Bounce is 1ms max and release is 0.5ms.

Contact choice is one normally-open, two normally open, or one normally closed.

Three coils are offered: 5V, 12V or 24V – resistances vary depending on other options. For example, the 12V version can be 350, 750 or 1,000Ω.

All packages are 6.22mm wide, 24 or 29mm long and 8 or 12.5mm tall above the PCB.

Operation is over -20 to +85°C.

“Series 144 provides a greener alternative to mercury wetted reed relays,”, said Pickering relay specialist Kevin Mallett. “While dry reeds may not provide bounce-free operation, their more eco-friendly construction helps contribute to sustainable practices. Series 144 is also a viable substitute for miniature electromechanical relays [offering] faster switching speeds and longer mechanical lifespans.”

Use is foreseen in mixed-signal semiconductor testers, electric vehicle charging, mining gas analysis, medical electronics and high voltage instrumentation.
